Armanda Duarte was born in Praia do Ribatejo, Portugal, in 1961. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, the city where she lives and works. In 1996 and 2006 she was supported by the C.Gulbenkian Foundation and in 2001 by the Luso American Foundation for Development. She has exhibited regularly, individually and collectively, since the late 1980s.The most recent solo exhibition, Abafador, took place at Sismógrafo, Porto, in 2019. Other recent group shows are: Espaço para o corpo; Obras da colecção de Serralves; C.M.de Cultura de Ponta Delgada, 2022 ; Tout ce que je veux - Artistes portugaises de 1900 à 2020, Tours, 2022 ; Minguante ( with Fernando Calhau), Uppercut, Lisbon, 2022 ; Comunidade, 2021, curated by Catarina Real, Plataforma Revólver, Lisbon; Tudo o que eu quero curated by Helena de Freitas and Bruno Marchand, F. C. Gulbenkian, 2021 and, Um lugar desenhado pela passagem do corpo, with Elisa Montessori, curated by joão Silvério, which took place at Monitor gallery, Lisbon, in 2019 / 20. Between 1996 and 2011 she was a teacher in the Drawing and Painting department of Ar.Co. In other institutions she was responsible and co-responsible for some drawing courses, as well as others related to her practice as an artist. She has participated in various editorial works.Her work is present in the collections of CGD, Fundação EDP, PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon City Council, Contemporary Art of the State ( CACE), Ivo Martins collection and other private collections.
