Armanda Duarte was born in Praia do Ribatejo, Portugal, in 1961. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, the city where she lives and works. In 1996 and 2006 she was supported by the C.Gulbenkian Foundation and in 2001 by the Luso American Foundation for Development. She has exhibited regularly, individually and collectively, since the late 1980s.The most recent solo exhibition, Abafador, took place at Sismógrafo, Porto, in 2019. Between 1996 and 2011 she was a teacher in the Drawing and Painting department of Ar.Co. In other institutions she was responsible and co-responsible for some drawing courses, as well as others related to her practice as an artist. She has participated in various editorial works.Her work is present in the collections of CGD, Fundação EDP, PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon City Council, Contemporary Art of the State ( CACE), Ivo Martins collection and other private collections.
